Coronavirus

15th September 2020

Dear friend,

Going forward, and because of limited capacity at all of our services, I am asking that you choose one service per Sunday in order to permit the maximum number of people from across our church family to attend a service. This present moment has provided many opportunities and many challenges for us, not least facilitating around the 300 people who normally would’ve shared in any of our Sunday gatherings. The capacity in our church building which is approximately 500+ people, is reduced now to about 20%. So, booking is essential for any of our 3 services. If you know of anyone who hasn’t got access to emails who would like to be part of our services, please let them know. As always, we’d ask that you would only come if you’re well and are not displaying any of the symptoms of COVID-19 and haven’t been contacted to isolate.

There are now three options for Sundays, and I’m asking that you choose one:

  • 10.30am – joining with the St Nicholas’ Church congregation for a traditional service of BCP Morning Prayer. This will be held in their church building on the Lisburn Road (opposite the Fire Station) To book, either text Jodie on +44 7872 493753 with your name and ’10.30’ in the text or phone. You can also email her on jodie@ascbelfast.com or use this booking link: go.ascbelfast.com/book and select St Nicholas Traditional BCP Service.

  • 11.00am – All Saints’ morning church with the ASC Kids programme, in St Nicholas’ Church Halls, Cadogan Park, Lisburn Road (behind the Fire Station) To book, either text Jodie on +44 7872 493753 with your name and ’11am’ in the text or phone. You can also email her on jodie@ascbelfast.com or use this booking link: go.ascbelfast.com/book and select All Saints’ AM Service.

  • 7.30pm – UniChurch service. To book follow this link: unichur.ch/book

The 11am and 7.30pm services will be broadcast live, also. Please ensure that (unless exempt) you wear a face covering to any and all of our in person meetings. We encourage you to bring your own mask but if you forget can give you one from a limited supply we have at church.

Looking forward to seeing you!

In Christ,

Trevor

I’m sure that, by now, you will have heard the news that churches across the country are pausing their getting together for a few months in response to COVID-19. This is a note to say that we have taken the decision to do the same, which means that our services, growth groups, youth and seniors’ meetings, and all other gatherings, are on hold for this period of time. However, church is not closed, we’re still here! Things will run a little differently, of course, but there will still be opportunity for us to gather under God’s word, to pray and to encourage each other in living for Jesus.

1) Sundays
There will be a broadcast service at 11am and another at 7.30pm each Sunday. You will be able to access it via go.ascbelfast.com/stream. This Sunday, we’ll be thinking about what God says regarding our present circumstances, in which there is very real fear, uncertainty and angst, yet he remains the sovereign and loving heavenly Father who tenderly reigns and rules. In time, we’ll be sharing some resources for families and including a children’s slot at the 11am broadcast.

2) Growth Groups
In most cases, our growth groups will still meet but online, as far as is possible. Some groups have already met this way, and your leaders will be in touch with details about your next meeting. Some groups also use WhatsApp or text to circulate matters for prayer and they’d commend this. Ask your leaders.

3) ASC Youth & Golden Saints
The leaders of each of these groups will be in touch with their plans to keep connected.

4) Pastoral support

I’m very conscious that in this time of uncertainty, there will be those who will feel a bit overwhelmed and potentially isolated from others. As a church, we are there for one another, building each other up and continuing to grow in Christ. Please don’t feel as if you’re on your own. Should you wish to chat, my number is 07776 178248 and email trevor@ascbelfast.com – please do not hesitate.

5) Giving
The opportunity to continue to give, though we’re not physically meeting up, is still there and we’d encourage you to partner and serve in this way. If you contribute through standing order or online giving that facility is still available: http://www.ascbelfast.com/giving. If you wish to post your gift, please send your cheque to All Saints’ Church, c/o 9 Kincora Avenue, Belfast, BT4 3DW. If you would like someone to collect your envelope, please contact me or David Scholes (our treasurer). These are uncharted days, and most of us have never lived through anything like them. Yet, God still rules, he is in control. Not one of us can add a day to our lives through worry or anxiety, yet our heavenly Father cares and provides for us with all of the things we need, especially in our Lord Jesus.

With much love in Christ,

Trevor Johnston (Rev)
