Background and Vision
St Nicholas and All Saints Church, Belfast, is an Anglican Evangelical church committed to the faithful proclamation of the gospel, the building up of disciples with the Word of God, and the raising up of workers for Christ’s ‘harvest fields’. There are three Sunday congregations meeting across the St Nicholas Church building, Lisburn Road, the St Nicholas Church halls, Cadogan Park and the All Saints Church building, University Street, Belfast. (Further information: www.ascbelfast.com)
The parish serves a diverse urban area, spanning the Belfast postcodes of BT7 and BT9, incorporating a significant population of young female adults, many of whom are students or young professionals. We are an inner-city and suburban church with a mixed congregation of local residents and a gathered community drawn from across the city and wider region, with some travelling up to 20 miles to attend and participate. Through Sunday gatherings, weekly growth groups and evangelistic endeavours, our church seeks to proclaim Christ and shape lives built on his gospel.
The church engages with a significant number of younger women connected to the parish and surrounding community who are in formative stages of life, navigating cultural and academic pressures and making decisions related to vocation, identity, and future direction. These years present a vital opportunity for gospel growth, deep discipleship, and the possibility in raising up women equipped to serve Christ faithfully in church, home, workplace, and mission.
We are seeking to appoint a Women’s Worker with a particular focus on younger women, to lead, develop, and grow ministry amongst this demographic at St Nicholas and All Saints, in partnership with the Rector and the wider ministry team.
Purpose of the Role
The Women’s Worker will take responsibility for evangelising, discipling, and teaching younger women within the life of the parish, with particular emphasis on female students and young adults. Working together with the Rector and ministry team, the postholder will seek to nurture Christian maturity, foster intergenerational discipleship (cf Titus chapter 2), and challenge and equip younger women for lives of godly service, including the raising and training of the next generation of women involved in gospel ministry.
